Guests stay in one of Recreo's tropical estate homes, a private residence to call your own. Designed to inspire you each villa was imaginatively crafted with local woods and natural stones and mesmerizing views. Each house was recently constructed featuring an outside deck area, which embraces the Costa Rican tradition of open-air dining, watching the magnificent sunsets and gazing at the stars. Many of the villas were designed by SURFACEtheagency. A number of other villas were done by preeminent designer Joseph Read.

Deluxe spa bathrooms boast overhead rain showers and soaking tubs, as well as oversize organic bath towels; 300-thread count organic cotton sheets adorn every bed. In-room bath and beauty products are provided by Raw Botanicals, a Costa Rica-based holistic skin care company dedicated to the principles of homeopathy. Raw Botanicals uses only the finest certified organic ingredients – all of which are USDA approved for use in organic food – and all products are handcrafted in Costa Rica.
Because accommodating visitors is Recreo's priority, every home comes equipped with flat-screen television, a DVD player and stereo (iPod compatible). Every home also comes with its own golf cart, for guests to use around the premises. WiFi is available to all guests at the Welcome Center and at the Mountain Top Cantina.
During their stay guests will receive top-notch service from their dedicated maid and personal chef, who will prepare meals according to prearranged specifications. Costa Rica's flavorful cuisine combines traditions from Africa, India, France, China and Spain; all ingredients used in Recreo's cooking come straight from the tropical garden or from local purveyors. Every home comes with a full bar featuring top-shelf liquor and wines.

Working in tandem with SURFACEtheagency, Recreo will be a celebration of hospitality design's most provocative concepts, materials and experiences. SURFACEtheagency will focus on developing this project with global reach that fuses high-end style-driven brands, the insightful and ingenious designers of tomorrow and the trend generating tastemakers that are fueling contemporary culture.

Leading this design project of SURFACEtheagency is Gianna Farina. Gianna will be responsible for the overall design ethos of Recreo from architecture consultation, interior design and product duration. Educated in Zurich and Milan, Gianna was cofounder and design director of the luxury brand Strato Cucine from 1997-2005. Understanding the intricacies of high design in interiors, architecture and exclusive consumer products, Gianna's stylistic reach has extended to Antwerp, Moscow, Zurich and now the United States. Her design portfolio includes tableware, cookware, furniture, restaurants and book; Work with Taste published by Edizioni Corraini.
